Is COOLMAX® fabric made from polyester fibers?
COOLMAX® fabric is designed to move moisture away from the body and enhance fabric drying rate thus, keeping you feeling cool and dry. COOLMAX® fabric delivers performance and comfort through the use of proprietary polyester fibers with unique engineered microchannel cross sections and/or specially engineered two sided, denier gradient fabrics made using qualifiable polyester or nylon yarns. The comfort of COOLMAX® fabric can be enhanced by using elasterell-p or introducing LYCRA® elastane. Click here for more information.
Is COOLMAX® fabric a treated polyester?
No, COOLMAX® fabric is not a treated polyester. The performance of COOLMAX® fabric is inherent in the fiber structure itself, thereby providing consistent performance wash after wash.
What's the difference between COOLMAX® fabric and other polyester fabrics?
COOLMAX® fabric is specially designed to provide not only superior moisture management, but also to enhance the wearer's comfort. The specially-engineered fibers comprising COOLMAX® fabric provide enhanced breathability (called "air permeability" by the techies) that differentiates COOLMAX® fabric from generic polyester fabrics. Air permeability is just one of our key performance tests that fabrics must pass before they can be sold under the "COOLMAX®" brand. And, remember, that all of the benefits of COOLMAX® fabric are permanently built right into the fiber, requiring no chemical treatments like other wicking fabrics.
Why is COOLMAX® fabric more comfortable?
Moisture management + breathability equals total comfort. Click here for more information.
Do garments made from COOLMAX® fabric require special care?
Most garments made with COOLMAX® fabric are machine washable and dryable; however, fabric softeners and chlorine bleach should not be used. Some garments may require special care because of the garment style, not the fabric. It is best to read the care label inside the garment.
Energy Saving Tip! > Because COOLMAX® fabric is so quick drying, you really don't need to use your dryer. If you've got clothes made from 100% COOLMAX® fabric, just hang them up to dry and be amazed at how quick it happens! Great tip for travel too!
Can you silk screen print on COOLMAX® fabric?
To maintain the outstanding drying performance of COOLMAX® fabric, we recommend heat transfer printing over silk screening. Light coverage silk screen designs may be acceptable. If you do screen-print, we recommend designs that do not cover the primary "sweat spots" on the garment.
Can I dye my COOLMAX® t-shirt?
No, COOLMAX® fabric is made from proprietary polyester fibers, and polyester requires special dye procedures.
Can COOLMAX® fabric be worn year-round?
Yes. In cold weather, COOLMAX® fabric is a great first layer, especially during high aerobic activities. Its superior moisture management will keep the bone-chilling perspiration away from your skin and move it to the outer layers for evaporation. Remember, you can not stay warm if your body's wet!
What are the advantages of COOLMAX® fabric vs. cotton?
Besides its positive effect on maintaining body core temperature, COOLMAX® fabric is fast drying, breathable, and resists fading, shrinking and wrinkling.
